Women registering encouraging results in various spheres,says Gurage

Wolkite, April 30 (GICD)–Women in the Gurage Zone are reportedly registering encouraging
results in economic,social and political sectors.
Zonal Women’s Affairs Department representative,Askale
Wolde-Hawariat,made the remark while sharing experiences with visiting
experts and executives of Kaffa Zone Women’s Affairs Department.
Women organized under associations have been provided with loans and
assisted to engage in agriculture to free themselves from economic
dependency in line with women’s development policy,she said.
Besides,training has been offered to the women in order to raise their
entrepreneur skills and enhance their creativity so as to help them become
successful in their areas of engagements,the representative pointed out.
Kaffa Zone Women’s Affairs Department Head,Meseret Meskele,on her
part said they have realized from the visit
that women could register satisfactory gains in economic,political
and social sectors by getting organized under associations and exercising
their constitutionals rights.
She further said Kaffa Women’s Affairs Department would organize
women in development-centered works and make them become beneficiaries of
their endeavors.
Meanwhile,Askale Wolde-Hawariat and Meseret Maskele jointly called for
the formulation of law which prevents sexual harassment in SNNP State.They
also urged the public to denounce the violence being perpetrated on women.
