Cross
sections of society in Cheha Woreda call for international pressure against
Eritrea Wolkite,
April 9 (GICD) –
Cross sections of society in Emdibbir town of Cheha Woreda urged the
international community and human rights organizations to pressurize the
Eritrean government to release the Ethiopian hostages. They also
called on Ethiopian diplomats to play a leading role in making the issue
understood by the international community. A civil
servant residing in Emdibbir town, Mora Mohammed, said he is worried about
the eight Ethiopians who remain under custody of the Eritrean captors after
the release of the five Europeans and urged the international community to
pressurize Shaebiya. Its
kidnapping of civilians after failing at the war front and engaging in urban
terror testifies to the terrorist nature of the government in Asmara, said
Woreda Information Office Head Abdurazak Fedlu. Abdurazak
added that the mass media should expose the plots of Shaebiya, the plight of
the civilians and its terrorist acts to the international community thereby
freeing the abducted compatriots. The
detention of the eight Ethiopians is an inhuman act committed against the
innocent civilians, Zeituna Ibrahim, said adding that Ethiopian diplomatic
missions in different countries should explain the matter to the community
of their respective countries of mission so that the international community
can pressurize the Eritrean government. (END)
