Center
provides prosthetics, medical treatment for 70,000 persons Wolkitie,
April 9 (GICD) - Girar-Bet
Rehabilitation and Medical Center in Butajira town of Gurage Zone has
reportedly treated the disabled and provided prosthetics.
Center
Coordinator Teshome Tulu told SNNP Mass Media Agency recently that the
center has offered medical treatment to 70,000 people with sight problems,
epilepsy and disabilities, among others, in one year. According to him, 8,600 of those had cataract surgery. Environmental sanitation education has also been given in six woredas where the center is active in trachoma prevention, besides distributing Zitro-Max, an anti-trachoma drug, to about half a million people. He further
stated that the center also provides physiotherapy and surgery as well as
prosthetics and other physical supports for the disabled. (END)
